I was inspired to write this book when my daughter (nicknamed Tilly by my mother) was 3 years old. She was determined to show me that there were fairies in the vents in our ceiling. I walked around the house and looked at every vent until we got to the bathroom.

I realized that after blowdrying her hair days before some of her beautiful curls had gotten trapped in the vents and it looked like antenna or even tiny little legs were dangling down. "Oh those fairies, we caught them!" I said to her delight.

I began to spin a tale about how those fairies are the reason that you can get a tangle in a single strand of your hair, or why you wake up with a mess if you don't wear your bonnet each night. If you never heard about a fairy knot then you may not have curly hair issues like we do!
